What is Monel K500 Seamless Pipe?

Seamless Monel K500 Pipe (UNS N05500) is a high-performance nickel-copper alloy pipe known for its exceptional strength, Résistance à la corrosion, and reliability in extreme environments. Unlike Monel 400, Monel K500 is an age-hardenable alloy. Monel K500 — Precipitation-Hardened Nickel-Copper Alloy Matrix

Monel K500 (UNS N05500) is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy developed as a high-strength variant of Monel 400. The alloy maintains the same corrosion-resistant Ni-Cu matrix but incorporates aluminum (2.30–3.15%) et titane (0.35–0.85%) additions that form gamma-prime Ni₃(Al,TI) precipitates during age-hardening heat treatment. The result is a material that delivers roughly double the yield strength of annealed Monel 400 while preserving its outstanding resistance to seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and reducing chemical environments.

The Al and Ti additions also shift the Curie point down to approximately −101°C, keeping K500 non-magnetic across all practical service temperatures. Monel 400, Par contre, can show weak ferromagnetism near room temperature because its Curie point sits around 21–49°C. This non-magnetic character, combined with NACE MR0175-compliant hardness (HRC ≤ 35) in the age-hardened condition, makes K500 the standard choice for downhole drilling tools, non-magnetic drill collars, and subsea valve components in sour-service environments.

Key differentiator: Monel K500 offers Monel-level seawater and HF acid resistance plus high mechanical strength — unique in the nickel alloy space.
